Regardless of what type of business you’re in, you need customers in order to be successful. You need people to buy the products and services that you have to offer. If you are struggling to get by, you may not be doing everything that you can do to reach your customers. If you want to expand your business and make it more successful, you may need to explore some alternative ways of reaching your customers and prospects.

Getting Your Message Right

Before you do any kind of advertising or marketing, you need to make sure that you have your own house in order first. Spending a little bit of time getting your message and positioning right can go a long way towards reaching your customers. If you are continually sending out mixed messages, it may turn your customers off and keep them from paying attention. Decide what type of marketing message you want to send out and perfect the message.

Use Traditional Marketing Channels

Once you have the right marketing message in hand, you need to consider spending some money on the regular marketing channels. Spending money on television, radio, and newspaper ads can still provide businesses with good returns on investment. A lot of people still use these mediums for getting information and you can reach them with a good advertisement.

Online Advertising

Instead of spending your entire marketing budget on traditional marketing methods, you may want to explore some online advertising options. For example, utilizing a pay-per-click marketing method could provide you with highly targeted traffic to your company website. With this approach, you only pay for people who actually come to your site and are most likely interested in what you have to offer. This can sometimes be much more effective than mass media advertising because you are only paying for people who are actively looking for the products and services that you have to offer. When you use mass media, your message hits a lot of people that are not in the market for what you are selling.

Alternative Options

Besides online advertising and traditional marketing methods, there are some other strategies that you can use to get the attention of your customers. For example, you could advertise on benches, buses and billboards in your area. In some cases, you can advertise on other people’s products. Some pizza restaurants sell advertising spots on the sides of their pizza boxes.

Look for opportunities to get your message out that are related to what you have to offer. If you can work with a related business to promote your cause, you may be able to attract people to your products and services without having to break the bank.

Among all of the amazing things this world has to offer, birth is one of the most fantastic. Humans understand the process that causes mothers to go into labor and that is awesome enough in and of itself. However, there are many unusual birth stories and facts out there are just as amazing as birth itself. Some of them are adorable, some are odd and some are just outright astounding.

The World’s Largest Baby

The largest baby in terms of weight ever recorded is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as having weighed 23 pounds, 12 ounces. He was 30 inches long. He was born to Anna Bates of Seville, Ohio, who was 7 feet, 5 1/2 inches tall. Unfortunately, the infant only lived 11 hours.

Roughly 1 in Every 2 to 3 Thousand Babies is Born With Natal Teeth

Babies can be born with extraordinarily full and thick hair, seemingly adult features and a myriad of other interesting characteristics that are not alarming. What parents do not expect at birth are natal teeth. While they are rare, they are noted at birth and watched for complications. They can cause injury to both the infant and the mother.

Humans are not the Only Animals to Cut Umbilical Cords

It is common practice among humans to clamp and sever the umbilical cord upon birth. Mothers have the option of lotus birth, which leaves the umbilical cord intact until it falls off naturally. This may seem more natural, but it is not. Placental mammals in the wild have umbilical cords too. They deal with it by chewing through it.

The Largest Surviving Multiple Birth was Eight

Multiple births tend to be dangerous for both the mothers and the babies. With the advent of fertility treatments, the number of multiple births has soared. Fertility treatment was the case with the birth and survival of eight children to Nadya Suleman in 2009. Such multiple pregnancies typically have complications that lead to the death of one or more of the babies.

A majority of births occur with no significant complications and no noteworthy defects. However, just as every child is different, so is every birth. There are some things, such as genetic disorders, that can be predicted, but one birth can’t judge the outcome of another birth. Nonetheless, no matter what occurs, births are always amazing.

Kanye West: Through The Wire

Kanye West: The BeginningProducer, musician and fashion designer Kanye West began his lucrative career in the late 90′s with production work on superstar artists like Foxy Brown and Jermaine Dupri’s rap albums. He began working for hip hop mogul Jay-Z’s record label, Rock-A-Fella Records, in 2000; producing and guest starring on the rapper’s critically acclaimed album, “The Blueprint.” West quickly became a coveted producer in the industry, working for the biggest names in hip-hop and a follow up album to “The Blueprint.” With a long list of credentials, West set out to further his career and take a turn in front of the microphone, but had trouble finding a record label that would take him seriously as a voice. He continued to produce music for other artists while seeking his own sound, when tragedy and fate intervened on October 23rd, 2002.

Kanye West’s Accident

Around 3 a.m that night, West left the Los Angeles recording studio where he was producing albums for The Black Eyed Peas, Beanie Sigel, and Peedi Crakk. He was driving a rented Lexus and collided with another car head on, after falling asleep at the wheel. West was treated for his injuries at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. During reconstructive surgery, West’s broken jaw was wired shut in order to correct its three broken fragments.

Through The Wire

A mere two weeks after his surgery, West recorded his soon-to-be his single, “Through The Wire,” at Record Plant Studios. The song became an underground hit, distributed on West’s unofficial mix tapes, before being officially released in 2003. “Through The Wire” sampled the 1985 single “Through The Fire” by diva Chaka Kan, rumored to be heard by West as he lay in his hospital bed. The single told a heart-wrenching, yet comical story of West’s accident and recovery; referencing everyone from rapper Mace to Civil Rights icon, Emmett Till.

Success Comes From Tragedy

The single spent five weeks at number fifteen on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, and skyrocketed to number 4 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart. “Through The Wire” was globally recognized, becoming a hit in the majority of Europe and New Zealand. West premiered a music video for the single in November of 2003, which won Video of the Year at 2004′s Source Hip Hop Awards.

The College Dropout

After denying West his own album for many years, Rock-A-Fella Records listened to”Through The Wire” and decided to finally let his voice be heard. In 2004, West released his debut album “The College Dropout” and quickly became a household name. With hit singles like “Jesus Walks,” West became the go-to rapper for guest cameos and smart lyrics. Through his near-fatal accident, West found a fulfilling career.

Introduction
Dwight D. Eisenhower was an honorable man who served as a successful commanding general in World War 2. His presidency lead to many positive outcomes for America. He obtained truce with Korea and made insistent efforts to relieve Cold War tensions. There’s also one more characteristic of Eisenhower unique to presidents who obtained office after him: he was bald.

Media’s Influence
America’s media and popular culture grows more and more as the years go by. Our perception of professionalism and trustworthiness of others now goes hand-in-hand with physical appearance. This is due to media outlets and businesses feeding us the idea of what they believe is appropriate and professional. Some of you may be skeptical of this idea and tell yourselves that there’s no way anything could have an effect on what you believe is professional; you have your independence of thought and personal opinion. If so, ask yourself, why was Eisenhower our last bald president?

Our Biased Judgment
Our perception of beauty is based on popular opinion of what’s currently in style. If you saw a candidate for presidency today wearing a suit that was fashionable in the 70′s, your opinion of the candidate’s professionalism and qualifications would be affected. This is an unfortunate fact that candidates face. The pressure on presidential nominees is more intense than ever, given the growth of technology and social networking. If we think someone is a joke based on their physical appearance, we will be quick to tell others our opinion, and then we will all feel justified having the wrong impression of that person.

Obama’s Physical Appearance
During the 2008 presidential election, social networking and other places of high traffic were swarmed with advertising for Obama. Obama’s nomination posters, videos, and appearance were very appealing to young and older people. He was a very handsome man with a great logo and a hopeful catch phrase, and that affected our impression of how professional and qualified he was. Many people who voted for Obama now regret their decision based on current polls. It’s possible that they relied more on his appearance and marketing strategy than his actual plans for America.

Younger Generation’s Role
Frankly, an older man who’s balding is not considered very attractive in this day and age. Younger people now have more of an effect on presidential polls than every before. Older adults are more likely to focus on the president’s plan for the future of America, because that’s what was considered acceptable years ago. Older opinion is now thought to be too traditional and inefficient. However, it’s not our fault. It’s due to how we were conditioned growing up in a very judgmental and media-oriented environment.

Conclusion
Times always change, and maybe our perceptions of beauty and what creates a qualified president will as well. It’s hard to find the truth in a media storm full of rumors and critical analysis of current nominees, therefore it’s difficult to make a concrete decision, so we look at personal appearance as a game changer. Looking on the bright side, this judgment could however be a positive characteristic of current times. We could possibly be weeding out bad candidate’s by using this strategy. It’s hard to say, but America will change and so will our presidents.

What do Lauren Hutton, Madonna, David Letterman, Anna Paquin and Brigitte Bardot have in common? They are all celebrities who have achieved great success in their professional lives. They also share the physical attribute of having a gap in their front teeth. They have embraced what many might perceive as an imperfection and made it one of their own personal statements that beauty comes from within and from without. The medical term is “Diastema” and some people will have corrective braces or bonding. These celebrities have decided to put the natural appearance to the fore-front and keep their smiles in its natural form.

Brigitte Bardot

Brigitte Bardot is an iconic beauty who is world renowned for her sultry looks and her trade-mark pout. Men found her breathtakingly beautiful and women have come to know her inner beauty as well. Brigitte was a fashion model who became an actress and singer. She is an avid animal activist now, as well. Ms. Bardot used her natural beauty, without augmentation, and showed the world what natural beauty was all about. Brigitte was born on September 28 of 1934.

Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin has talent and beauty in a winning combination too. She won the Oscar at the tender age of 11 for the Best Supporting Actress in 1993 for her performance in “The Piano”. The actress was born on July 24 of 1982 and could have chosen to have her widely spaced front teeth changed with the use of cosmetic dentistry. She has chosen, and rightly so, to keep her unique appearance and not conform to a cookie-cutter idea of beauty.

David Letterman

David Letterman was born on April 12 of 1947 and is a well know comedian and late night talk show host. He is as well known for his trademark smile as he is for his TV program. The gap-toothed performer has had a long career without tampering with his natural smile.

Madonna

Madonna was born born on August 16, 1958 as Madonna Louise Ciccone but is widely known now by the mononymous name of Madonna. He talent and beauty have taken her far from her childhood home in Bay City, Michigan. Madonna has never augmented her smile with corrective braces or dental appliances. She embraced her individuality in the physical form, the intellectual form and the emotional form for what it was. Beautiful and unique.

Lauren Hutton

Lauren Hutton is another iconic beauty who graced the covers of many fashion and beauty magazines. She was advised by her employers to correct the space between her teeth in her early years but she was never comfortable with the option. She used temporary measures to comply with their advice. Lauren was born on November 17, 1943 and is a cherished and well known actress and model. She went back to her natural smile as soon as she could and has never gone back to the artificial look again.

The fashion of late has been to use those little imperfections in dentistry to give a more natural smile. The aesthetic code of the recent past in which we all looked exactly the same has now changed to embrace the natural though slight imperfections that make us uniquely beautiful. The fashion industry and the cosmetic dentistry of 2012 and beyond has come to understand what these celebrities and many more have always known. Being unique is beautiful.

Botox is commonly known for its effectiveness in treating wrinkles, but you may be surprised to learn that medical professionals have many other intriguing uses for Botox. Aside from cosmetic applications, Botox can be used to treat eye problems, upper limb spasticity problems, problems associated with cervical dystonia, chronic headaches and even incontinence.

Eye Problems

Strabismus, also called squint, is an eye muscle problem that occurs when there is a lack of muscle coordination in the muscles around the eyeballs. It is common for one of the eye’s other muscles to become stronger than the failing muscle. This causes the eyeball to pull to the right or to the left. This eye muscle issue can lead to double vision and blurry vision. Special eyeglasses can correct mild strabismus, but surgery is needed in more severe cases. However, a simple treatment of Botox can be used to paralyse the muscles around the eyeball which can realign the eyeball.

Doctors can also use Botox to treat another eye condition called blepharospasm, a muscle disorder that causes its sufferers to have involuntary spasms of the eye muscles. The spasms cause eye twitching, excessive blinking and impaired vision. Botox can be used to relax the muscles to stop the muscle spasms.

Cervical Dysplasia

Cervical dysplasia causes the muscles around the spine and neck to spasm. This can be awkward and painful. Individuals with cervical dysplasia are often forced to position their heads in ways that make it uncomfortable or impossible to drive, read or perform other daily activities. Botox can be used to paralyze the problematic muscles. This reduces the pain associated with unpredictable head and neck movements caused by cervical dysplasia.

Chronic Migraines

Another interesting medical use for Botox is to treat chronic migraines. Individuals who have chronic migraines are often debilitated for several hours or even days when they have these serious headaches. Several Botox treatments over the period of about a year may reduce or eliminate migraine headaches. Botox may also be helpful in treating tension headaches that are caused by muscle spasms.

Urinary Incontinence

Perhaps the most intriguing use of Botox is to treat urinary incontinence. Urinary incontinence occurs when muscles in the bladder spasm uncontrollably. A botox treatment, which is effective for up to one year, prevents these uncontrollable bladder muscles spasms.

Upper Limb Spasticity

Upper limb spasticity in the elbows, wrists and fingers can be effectively treated with Botox treatments. Studies have shown a significant improvement in patients’ flexor tone after receiving Botox treatments. Individuals who suffer from upper limb spasticity now have a simple treatment option to decrease muscle stiffness.

It is important to note that some Botox treatments are covered by insurance companies, while other treatments that are not approved by the FDA are typically not covered by insurance plans.
