Eat More and Lose Pounds – 15 Opportunities

The trick to trimming away unwanted fat storage is not eating less but educating yourself on the best foods to eat without feeling like you’re hungry all the time and depriving yourself.
Diet is a nasty word. It should be stricken from the dictionary. I think we should just call it menu re-education. Have you noticed when you’re “on a diet” that all you can think about is food?

The truth is you do not have to be hungry. You can eat as much as you want if you understand the foods you eat. We all need some fat. It just has to be the right kind of fat. The right foods actually increase your metabolism, help you lose weight and decrease the toxins in your body to make you look and feel better.

There are so many foods out there that you can choose from, you will never have to feel hungry again! Just a few basic rules can make you quit counting calories and start living a normal, healthy life again.

   1) Almost all fruits and vegetables burn more fat than you ingest.

    2) Food that will make you gain weight are hydrogenated oils, like canola oil and fake butters. These will sneak up on you.

3)You need some fats like real butter, olive oil raw nuts, eggs or avacados, in moderation, of course.

   4) Your liver filters the harmful fats from your body. If your liver has to work overtime filtering processed foods that contain chemicals, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners and processed soy products like soy milk, it is not functioning well. Give it a rest with foods that will help to make it’s job easier.

   5) Use spices on your foods like cinnamon, cardamom and cayenne peppers that help burn fat instead of adding to the problem. Chili pepper is one of the best additions.

   6) Do not starve yourself. The body goes into starvation mode and hold onto all your fat. It does more harm than good. You end up getting so frustrated, you go back to your old habits.

   7) Try flavoring your vegetables and fish with lemon juice. You will be surprised at the robust flavor it adds.

   8) Yes, you can eat fish, poultry and meat. Just choose lean cuts.

   9) Seeds and nuts make great snacks. Mix them with dried fruits and use them for snacks instead of those potato chips you craved.

   10) Bread and pasta are, believe it or not, really good for you. Stay away from the processed ones and choose whole grains.

   11) Skip the fast food stop on your way home and have some cold chicken or tuna with fresh fruits and veggies for dinner instead. You can do the same for a rushed lunch.

   12) Who said you should not eat eggs? Have fried eggs for breakfast. Fry eggs in applesauce instead of oil. You can not taste the applesauce but you still get the nutrition. Keep applesauce on hand for all your pan frying. It takes away the guilt!

   13) Green tea and coffee help speed up your metabolism but stay away from diet drinks, colas and pre-sweetened drinks. No artificial sweeteners. The new stevia sweeteners do not have the bitter taste they had when they first came out. Honey is good but not agave. They messed it up in the processing.

   14) Buy organic whenever you can. Try the local farmers markets for fresh produce. That will eliminate the pesticides from your menu. The bonus is they taste so much better.

   15) Eat as much of the fruit and vegetables on the list as you want but refrain from microwaving. It kills the nutrients. And remember, no plastic!I hope this has given you some alternatives you had not been aware of previously. When I started, I had to go buy new jeans, a size smaller, within a month. I was not even trying to lose weight. I just wanted to eat healthier. I do not keep anything in the house that is not on my list so that I will not be tempted to over-indulge. I find I am perfectly happy with what I find in the kitchen.
