Availability of Appeals:
Either litigant may appeal for a new trial to District Court within ten days. District Court will try the appeal in accordance with Small Claims Court procedures, except that a record of the trial will be maintained.
Special Rules and Notes:
Parties may request jury trial. The right to sue may not be transferred. Evening sessions are available. Defendant must counterclaim at least 2 days before trial.
Side Note
Any time you go to court you should have in mind that professional business attire is a must. Wearing shorts to a court appearance is in some places simply not allowed. If the bailiff does let you in with less-than appropriate clothing, the judge will not appreciate it. And definitely don’t wear your old grungy T-shirts or crummy sneakers!
